How to get to the Accademia Gallery
The Galleria dell'Accademia is at Via Ricasoli 58 to 60 in central Florence. The accessible entrance is at number 60. Most visitors walk: it is about 5 minutes from the Duomo and about 10 to 12 minutes from Santa Maria Novella station. Tram T2 ends at San Marco, in the museum's area.
Plan the trip around your time slot, not the other way round. If you have not booked yet, start with Accademia Gallery tickets or the Accademia Gallery tours. Opening days and hours are on the opening hours page.

Routes compared
Walking times are estimates and grow with luggage, crowds or a slow pace.
| From | How | Time | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Duomo | On foot via Via Ricasoli | About 5 minutes | Shortest route and easy to follow |
| Santa Maria Novella station | On foot via Via de' Panzani, Via de' Cerretani and the Duomo | About 10โ12 minutes | The usual walk from the train |
| Florence airport (Peretola) | Tram T2 to San Marco | About 35 minutes for the whole line | San Marco is the stop in the museum's area |
| Villa Costanza park and ride | Tram T1 to Santa Maria Novella, then on foot | โ | Plan the connection and the walk separately |
| By car | Garage, then on foot or by bus | โ | No visitor parking at the museum; see the car section below |
For most visitors the walk is the best choice. From the Duomo or the station you cross the centre on foot, you do not depend on a timetable, and Via Ricasoli leads straight to the entrance. Use the tram if you arrive from the airport.
