Accademia Gallery opening hours at a glance
The Galleria dell'Accademia in Florence, home of Michelangelo's David, opens Tuesday to Sunday from 08:15 to 18:50. It is closed on Mondays, on 1 January and on 25 December. There is no regular split into summer and winter hours, so the same schedule applies all year.

The gallery is closed on Mondays. The Medici Chapels and the Bargello share the Monday closing, so a Monday in Florence is a day for other plans. Casa Buonarroti and Santa Croce are open on Mondays, see the table further down.

These are the two holiday closings. Other public holidays are normal opening days.

The David stands at the end of the long hall, in the Tribuna, so it is usually reached early in a visit. The instruments and some of the paintings are in the upper rooms. An evening opening on Monday, 30 November 2026, from 17:15 to 21:00 is announced for the Accademia and other museums in the same group. Check the current notice before you plan around it, because announced openings can change.

The basilica of Santa Croce is closed to visitors from 17:20, ten minutes before closing time. For most visitors, Tuesday to Saturday is the easiest range: every site above is open, and Santa Croce is open all day. Sunday works for the Accademia, but Santa Croce only opens at 14:00. Choosing a time within the hours
No hour is reliably empty.
Waits depend on the day and the season, not on a fixed clock time. The practical fix is a reserved time slot, because walking up without a reservation can mean a longer wait. March to October and holiday weekends are the busier part of the year, and October to February is quieter. October falls in both ranges, so do not treat it as a guaranteed quiet month.
