Michelangelo in Florence: five more places
Michelangelo's David stands in the Galleria dell'Accademia, and most visitors stop there. Florence holds much more of his work. The Medici Chapels have his architecture and tomb sculpture. The Bargello has a room of his marbles. The Casa Buonarroti shows two further works in its Sala dei Marmi. Santa Croce has his tomb monument, and the Uffizi hold the Doni Tondo.
Plan around the closing days. The Accademia, the Bargello and the Medici Chapels are all closed on Mondays. If you want the David and a second Michelangelo stop, the Accademia Gallery tours and the ticket page show how to fit them together, and the Accademia page covers the David's own museum.

What you see at each stop
Details that help you decide how much time to give each one.
Medici Chapels
The New Sacristy was built between 1519 and 1534. Michelangelo designed the architecture and made the sculpture, including the figures of Night, Day, Evening and Morning on the ducal tombs. The Cappella dei Principi and the crypts belong to the same visit. Do not confuse the New Sacristy with Brunelleschi's Old Sacristy, which is a different building.

The Stanza Segreta is a separate product: €29 plus a mandatory €3 reservation, so €32 with the chapels. Groups are limited to 4 people and the visit lasts 15 minutes. You reach it over 12 steps, with no lift, and children under 10 are not admitted. The operator advises against it for people with claustrophobia or heart problems.
Bargello
The Michelangelo room holds Bacchus, Apollo/David and Brutus. The museum also has David figures by Donatello and Verrocchio. They are separate works by other artists, so do not mistake them for Michelangelo's David.
Casa Buonarroti
The Sala dei Marmi shows the Madonna della Scala and the Battle of the Centaurs. Reduced tickets cost €5, and children under 6 enter free. Last ticket is at 4 p.m. The house is closed on Tuesdays, on 1 January, Easter Sunday, 15 August and 25 December. Santa Croce ticket holders get the reduced rate.
Santa Croce
Michelangelo's tomb monument stands in the right-hand aisle. Vasari designed it and it was built between 1564 and 1576. It is a monument to him, not a work he made himself. Tickets are €10, or €6 for ages 12 to 17, and children aged 0 to 11 enter free. The basilica closes at 5:20 p.m., and last entry is 5 p.m. Wear clothes that cover shoulders and knees.
Doni Tondo
The Holy Family in the Uffizi is dated to 1505 and 1506. Read more about the museum on our sister site: the Uffizi guide. It is a different work from the David and takes a separate ticket, covered on the Uffizi and Accademia page.
A two-day route
Day one: the Accademia first thing, then a walk to San Lorenzo and the Medici Chapels. Day two, a Monday: the three big museums are closed, so go to Casa Buonarroti and Santa Croce, which are close to each other. Add the Bargello on a Tuesday to Sunday.
Two combined tickets exist for the Accademia group. Accademia plus Bargello costs €26 and lasts 48 hours. The all-museums pass costs €38, lasts 72 hours and adds a €4 reservation. It also covers the Medici Chapels, Orsanmichele and Palazzo Davanzati. Casa Martelli is part of the pass but closed until the end of 2026. A pass does not open a closed house.
